We have a Peter Saville born July 26 1812 and died Jan 1891 and is buried in a cemetery at Salisbury. Can anyone help me find out where? My family had a restaurant named "The Hut" in Salisbury from about 1971-1976. I remember lots of names Linneman, Fawks, Polard, Meinhardt and the barber next door was a wonderful red haired man. I don't know what has happened to any of the people that I knew then. I was around 12-15 years old and cannot remember alot of details. One of the things that I would like (besides hearing from anyone who might remember me or some of the people that I used to know) is what the website address for a really great local band by the name of Big Daddy Blues or Blues Daddy-something along those lines. I have heard them twice and really could become a "groupie" if I only knew where they were playing. Thanks for any help. Jamie

My father, Ralph Yoder, was born and raised in Keytesville. His father, Harry, was the towns marshall and his mother, Katie Kolas Yoder, was the town clerk for many years. I remember the Keytesville of my childhood as a bustling little close-knit community. Many of my fathers relative still live many of the towns in the area, including Salisbury and Brunswick. I love the Northwest area of Missouri and look forward to visiting.

I am having trouble finding the father of my mother BILLIE LORRAINE HAYES who was born on December 7, 1899 in Salisbury, Chariton Co. Missouri. Apparently the court house in Salisbury burned down and the records of her birth do not exist. There was a Phoebe Katheryn Vance who was present at her birth but she has passed away. Phoebe's last know address was 180 Contour Drive, Cheshire, Connecticut in May 1960. Without knowing the vital information on my mother and her parents I can not be sure of her ancestry. Could anybody help find any records within the town of Salisbury that would help me with my search?

I am trying to find my old college roommate. Her name was Cindy Turner. She is originally from Salisbury. She and I were roommates at CMSU for two years. We both left there in the spring of 1992. She got married to Damon Kronk. I think he was from Fulton? Anyway, we both ended up going to school at Lincoln University in Jefferson City. I only saw her a couple of times on campus. I too am just beginning a genaology search on relatives from Salisbury. I remember visiting once or twice as a child. My mother's name was Anna Marie Lohe. Her mother Catharina (Kathryn) died when she was 2yrs old and her father Henry died when she was 4. She was raised by her Aunt Margaret Lohe, who was a housekeeper for the Parish Priests. My mother died now 10 years ago and had put together some information...but I'm trying to fill in the blanks to pass on to my children. Only been back to Salisbury a handful of times since leaving for the Navy. Many fond memories there. Getting close to retirement - looking forward to the sleepy life again of living miles out of a small town. Been around the world 3 - 4 times over, could make my own "Been there, done that" commercial. Just sitting here on duty - bored - typed Salisbury MO in the search and ended up here. Dena Nannemann was interested in finding relatives. She sure hit the right place. The Nannemann family is related to a significant portion of Linn & Chariton County populations. I am the son of Cletus, who was the son of Bernard F., who was the son of Hermann Nannemann, one of the 3 brothers who with their uncle came to Missouri during the days of the Prussian war, when our family's home was in the country then called Friesia, which was later absorbed into Germany into the state of Lower Saxony. The family has branches in many cities in Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin, and other states. There are about 300 people with the name of Nannemann in the phone books of the USA. Some of the family dropped the last n during WW1 due to the anti German sentiment at that time. This is the reason for Nannemann being spelled both ways. We are all related however.

My dad, Roy Joe Finnell, grew up on the family farm between Shannondale and Forest Green. His parents, William Roy and Lilah May (Vance) Finnell, are buried in the Asbury Church cemetery.
The last of our branch of our family to live in Chariton County was my dad's oldest sister Virginia (Ginny) Cox, who lived on East 4th Street in Salisbury up until her death several years ago. A sweet and wonderful woman.
I'd enjoy hearing from anyone who knew the Finnells as neighbors or friends.
I miss Missouri quite often. My one consolation is that, living in Virginia as I do now, I'm where so many of Chariton County's early settlers originated.

I have enjoyed my visit through Salisbury this was an unexpected surprise to find the Webpage.. My father Victor F. Wolter was born in Salisbury Nov l8,l900..He had several businesses during my lifetime in Salisbury which was from 1942 through 1956 when I graduated from Salisbury High School.. One of the things I remember and so appreciate was the tremendous bands that we had, parades, horse shows, ice-cream socials and of course the July 4th, Band Concert at Roanoke,Mo. Tonight I even noticed the name Leven, which if the same family, was the first real crush of my life..His name was Billy...he weighed one and one-half pounds at birth, and his mother had been a long time friend of my fathers.
I too am doing a great deal of reasearch in Geneology, and am interested in Ida Higgins Igraham..wife of Mr. Joe Ingraham who was President of the Salisbury Savings Bank for many years. Also the "Creason's" of Missouri..who will be having a reunion this May 28 th at Green City,Missouri( City Hall..) It is put on by Ambrose Norton Grindstaff (Creason) and we hope to have a large group in attendance.
I still feel I have many friends around Salisbury..Cousin Reubem Hunker Jr. of Armstrong. I am also interested in locating Edward Eugene Shiflett..a Commercial Piolet who was a very special person in my life, and, one I would like to know is living and doing well.. Any information would be appreciated.
As for me I have four Grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, which is hard for me to believe.for I still feel young and am in spirit.

I am thrilled to find this page! My great-grandfather, Albert Weiler, owned a shoe store for many years in Salisbury which I believe was started in 1887. Albert's brother Oscar went into business with him and then later had a store of his own. In 1987 I had written a letter to the Chariton County Historical Society and received a reply and a good deal of information about my relatives from Faye Farthing. I will be forever grateful for the information that she gathered for me. I will always consider Salisbury my home. I lived there all of my childhood and graduated in 1978. Have not lived in Salisbury for 20+ years but go there often because my Dad, Herb Stanley lives there. I now live in a even smaller town. My husband and two sons live on farm south of Keytesville, Mo. I do however get out some working three 12 hr shifts in Columbia, Mo as a RN at Boone Hospital in the ER. Enjoyed your website. Was through Salisbury, summer of 1991 doing some research on my father's family--SPENCER PAXTON EMBREE. My father was born in Salisbury but the family lived on a farm in Forest Green. My aunt is still living (97 years). When I was there I took a picture of the schoolhouse in Forest Green (now a residence) to send to her. She had some fun stories to tell. Just found the Salisbury web page. My friend, Sarah Robertson Surratt, formerly of Salisbury, told me that you had one. I am very impressed! I visited Salisbury once a year when my grandmother, Ida Louise Reppenhagen McCurry was alive. My grandfather was F. Bion McCurry, Salisbury postmaster and insurance agent. My mother was Mary Eunice McCurry DeFratus. She loved Salisbury so much and called it her "storybook town" because of the beautiful old homes. Very nice set up on a web page for Salisbury. My mother is from the area. Her madien name is Mabel Gebhardt.
I still have relatives that live in the area.
I found out about the Web page from my mom's copy of the Salisbury Spectator.
I hope to get back up to Salisbury soon. Unfortunately the last time I was up there was for the funeral of my aunt MaryAnn Gebhardt bvack in Oct of 1997.
